Accountability

Businesses considering carbon offsets need reassurance that the credits they purchase actually mean something. Woodlands Carbon offsets are retired and not resold. A third-party registry records the transaction and retires the tons purchased. Although the credits are retired, the trees continue to sequester carbon for years.
Our landowners are committed to the sustainability of their property. In addition to integrating carbon sequestration into their forest management plan, they also agree to maintain the commitment to remain certified for a minimum of 15 years from the date of enrollment. The forest must be sustainably managed and certified by an independent third-party, such as the American Tree Farm Systems.
Our family woodland owners agree to:
- Set clear management objectives.
- Survey forest condition and health.
- Inventory soil and water resources.
- Manage pest & invasive species.
- Protect threatened and endangered species.
